72 (and Counting!) Things to Do When You’re Bored at Home
So it’s almost time for school to start again and you’ll be a little busier than you have been this summer. Don’t let anyone try to tell you you can’t be bored at home year-round! All the same, if you’re not as stubborn as we are and you’re actually looking for some way to escape your boredom, peruse our list for great ideas. Or busy yourself suggesting additions–the comments box is only a scroll away!
1. Star gaze in your backyard
2. Look at old photographs (you were so cute… what happened?!)
3. Make a collage/poster out of your old photos
4. Rearrange the furniture in your room (ask for permission first!)
5. Paint/draw a picture
6. Write a thank-you note to someone important in your life
7. Teach your pet a new trick (be patient!)
8. Write a poem
9. Plant something (in a pot or outside if it’s warm enough!)
10. Climb a tree
11. Throw out stuff you don’t need (donate old clothes!)
12. Make a CD or playlist of your favorite songs or as a gift for someone
13. Learn words in a foreign language
14. Talk to your parents about your ancestors (believe me… it’s cooler than it sounds!)
15. Ride your bike
16. Learn to do a sudoku in the newspaper
17. Go jogging, bike riding, roller skating, etc
18. Call up neighborhood friends and play soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, Frisbee, etc
19. Teach yourself sign language (use youtube.com or google.com to find info on it!)
20. Reread your favorite childhood book
21. Bake cookies
22. Lie out on the grass and decide what the clouds in the sky look like
23. Call someone you haven’t talked to in a REALLY long time
24. Take a bubble bath
25. Make a movie/documentary
26. Write in a journal
27. Cut out cool newspaper/magazine pictures and make a new wallpaper (ask for permission!)
28. Mow the lawn (your parents will LOVE you!)
29. Set up a tent in your backyard and go “camping”
30. Go sledding!
31. Learn to cook something new (pasta is an easy starting point)
32. Make a video on your computer (see if you have the right program first)
33. Invite everyone you know and have a snow “war” – make teams, forts, and snowballs!
34. Make someone a card just because

36. Ask your dad for some scraps of wood, nails, and a hammer – see what you can make!
37. Play a board game you think you’re too old for

okay, i think the list is good except what if you read it in summer? how can you sled? or in the winter it’d be pretty hard to mow the lawn… just a pointer
I like the list in all, but I have no one to play with so I really can’t play a game with someone. I want something to do inside, that wont make a mess, I can do by myself, and will be fun.I’m STILL BORED!!!!

yeah i nkow what u mean, but o well that way u can read the list in the summer AND the winter.. and besides i suppose u could take a sled out in the summer and go down a muddy hill:) AHAH that would be funn.. i might do that(A)
~Create stuffed animals with distinguished names and unusual quirks, then have tea with your new friends. (It’s only polite.)
~See how many ribbons you can tie in your hair, your friends hair, or even your pets fur. (Go for the world record.)
~Create a detailed imaginary world down to the color of the bricks on the street. (If there is a street in that world.)
~Coreograph a dance to one of your favorite songs, and make it actually fun to dance. (Even if it IS silly.)
~Rewrite lyrics to your favorite songs to make them better.(You don’t HAVE to sing them.)
~Type randomly on the keyboard as if you were playing a classical Beethoven song on piano, and then try to read the results.
~Figure out your superpowers and origins as a superhero or heroine.
totaly awesome we made a long long list we will be up until like 1 oclock but our goal is untin 8:30 an the next night to jkjk

well i have to say is that i guess i kinda liked it well maybe you could have gotten ideas from like a different website so you know whats cool like on a different website it had fun stuff like use a trash can as a hoop and use paper as a basketball and i thought that was kinda fun

Other things you can do is:
*Stay awake for 24 hours
*Go to a open 24 hour store and go at 1 am.
*Have a staring contest with yourself in the mirror
*Teach yourself how to type fast with the computer off
*Do a manicure or pedicure (guys:take colon and mix them together and try to make something new)
*Mail something to yourself
*Try to kiss your elbow
This is way fun! I wrote down all the ones that I liked and put them in a jar and pulled one out whenever I was bored! It’s super fun!
I dont think i would use most things on the list. But i would do the things like karioke, invent a new game and such.
then its the perfect time to try something new

look i like the list but what if you have a broken arm like me i can not do most of that stuff
hm…i cant do half the stuff. im nine years old! my sister goes places with her friends anytime, without asking. EVERYWHERE. walk to the mall (which is like five miles away) take the bus! of course THEY can do it…but i cant! cuz none of my friends can come over. when your nine, you have to PLAN AHEAD for friends to come over. like okay! how about this wednsday? sure! see you soon! with older sisters it’s: hey wanna go to the mall? k gimme ten minutes. meetcha at my house.

So just talk to your parents and say “Please can I have a friend over today?” Tell them you will be very mature and responsible and that you will provide them your attention, and your parents won’t have to do anything. Parents LOVE that. I’m 9 and 7 years younger from my brother, so I know your pain. Tell them you want to be thought of equally, and that you have just as many rights. If that doesn’t work, then don’t break down and cry, because obviously they’re gunna hate that. Just try again harder. And make sure you do what you promised to do. Okay?

this is an awesome list and i agree with the guy at the top! how could you mow your lawn in the winter!!! i mean can’t you just imagine a guy in the middle of winter in a heavy coat and such and just mowing his lawn with snow on the ground!!!!

hey everyone, i just want to say thanks, i was bored but this site helped me heaps. I ended up typing up all the ones i liked rom this site and more and pulled them out of a jar to choose which one and i had fun just doing that! which of course i would because just before that i was on the edge of fatal boredom and ended up throwing marshmellows at the wall. Ok well i tried some of those things but then my sister and my friend came over and my sisters twin boys and this is what i did
my sister made a list for us i got one boy and my friend got the other
we went to walmart and had a scavenger hunt and the first one at register # 12 was the winner, i dont like to brag at all but it was me. but then we had another contest to see who could put back all of the stuff in the correct place and we took our cameras so we proved that it was in the right place, but she won that one, just make sure you dont get yourself into any trouble, we told the manager what we were doing! (:
