More About LitWorks!

Litworks is a teen read workshop where individuals from all over the United States gather to collaborate with authors and discuss their novels, ask questions and get the inside scoop on any potential sequels.  In addition everyone has the opportunity to get their books signed and participate in fun activities!

A few of our favorite books from this years list include:

Perfect- Ellen Hopkins

Everyone has something, someone, somewhere else that they’d rather be. For four high-school seniors, their goals of perfection are just as different as the paths they take to get there.  Everyone wants to be perfect, but when perfection loses its meaning, how far will you go? What would you give up to be “perfect”?  A companion novel to Impulse.

Such a Pretty Face:Short Stories about Beauty  - Ann Angel

A beauty queen with a chin-hair problem, an aspiring model who would rather take pictures than be in them, a boy in love with the gorgeous nurse he’s never seen, a girl named Beauty who feels like anything but—the teenagers in these stories feel the power of beauty, whether it’s to trap, save, torment, or comfort.

Stoner & Spaz – Ron Koertge

A 16-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who keeps afloat on his black humor and his love of movies, falls for a beautiful drug addict.

Get Well Soon – Julie Halpern

Anna Bloom is depressed—so depressed that her parents have committed her to a mental hospital with a bunch of other messed-up teens. Here she meets a roommate with a secret (and a plastic baby), a doctor who focuses way too much on her weight, and a cute, shy boy who just might like her.  But wait! Being trapped in a loony bin isn’t supposed to be about making friends, losing weight, and having a crush, is it?

Runner – Carl Deuker

A thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Chance could have been a star runner in high school . . . but with a mother who walked out on him and a father battling alcoholism, the kind of running he does is much different, and much more dangerous, than runners on a high school track team. Drug smuggling, terrorism, explosions, and death–this book is sure to keep you reading.
